Fears and phobias are really a subdivision of Anxiety as the same underlying unhelpful thought process and the stress response applies.

In some cases, there was a specific fearful event that happened and the brain then made an imprint of every detail that was perceived therefore when your subconscious picks it up you go into a panic attack or feeze up and you feel totally out of control. Other times there may not be an event that you remember.

Sometimes a fear or phobia starts as say a fear of elevators but then it changes to a fear of having a panic attack while in the elevator. Even with a fear of flying it is not necessarily a fear of the plane falling but rather the person is fearing what if they get a panic attack and cannot get off.

With Hypnosis we can effectively alter the association a person has towards a specific object or activity. We have seen clients overcome a fear of heights in 2-4 sessions and a fear of flying in 1-3 sessions.  These irrational fears can really affect your quality of life and many do not realize that with Hypnosis we can actually remove this on a subconscious level.

Genine has a clear passion and keen interest in mental health and behaviour and is set on helping people make their futures happen by living happier and doing better.  She specialises in Anxiety & stress related therapy.

She began her journey into hypnotherapy after family members suffered severe depression, and being at the scene of 2 suicides of people she knew. She witnessed the effects of Anxiety and Chronic stress in the workplace in her 20 years in Corporate roles of which 8 years were leading high-performing teams. 

Genine herself dealt with anxiety earlier in life and even to the point of vasovagal syncope and digestive issues. She worked to overcome anxiety and stopped smoking with the help of Hypnotherapy.

As a high achiever, beginning as a professional singer and performing in the World Championships of the Performing Arts in 1998 where she obtained a bronze medal, Genine was running high levels of unhealthy stress and anxiety.

Her firsthand experience with the fast and lasting results of Hypnotherapy, plus her passion for human potential led Genine to become a Clinical Hypnotherapist herself.

General Questions:

The first 20 minutes of the introductory session is free of charge. This is where we get to know each other. Should you decide we are not the right for you, a full refund will be provided.

From experience, most clients require between 1 and 9 sessions. This can be discussed and agreed in your introductory session. Anxiety is typically 4 sessions and Stop smoking is 1 to 2 sessions.  EcoMindz does not believe in years of therapy – we focus on getting an outcome so you can move forward with a new perspective and set of tools.

Because of the constant changes with health insurances we are unable to provide updated information. It is best to speak to your health insurer directly. As at 2021 information on the Australian Hypnotherapist Association’s (AHA) website the following Health Insurers may provide cover for EcoMindz visits due to eligible qualifications and membership:
  • Australian Health Management (AHM) for quit smoking only
  • Australian Unity for member who had Hypnotherapy as an extra and held the policy since before 2018
  • CBHS Health fund
  • CUA Health fund with doctors referral letter advising you are having Hypnotherapy for stress management, weight loss or quit smoking

The first 20 minutes of your introductory session is free of charge. Should you decide not to continue, a full refund will be provided. You may book online with no deposit or pay in full.  The full fee is however required at your consultation. If a booking is cancelled and rescheduled, no fees are payable. If a booking is cancelled with no rescheduling, a 30% cancellation fee is required. Payment can be made before or during your consultation. A prepaid 3-session pack can be purchased during or after your first consultation with EcoMindz. Pack sessions must be used within 3 months from purchase, any sessions left after 3 months will be forfeited. Failure to attend an appointment without notification will result in full payment of the session being due. If the session was prepaid there will be no refund.

In the sessions, which are typically an hour each, we will use different strategies and techniques as well as build new skills, each individually tailored to you. The introductory session includes a 20 minute obligation free session. Should you not wish to continue, you will be refunded in full. Each session, including the introductory session, will consist of learning about you, what brings you to us, what your goals are, how we can help, some knowledge around techniques used and expectations. You will also have some homework for you to do. Don’t worry – it is very enjoyable and takes minimal time so it can fit into your daily life which is building and cementing your newly learned skills.

You certainly do. Therapy is a 2-way relationship and requires input and effort from both therapist and client in order to achieve a desired outcome. If you wish to exclude any type of technique used, discuss it with your therapist in your session.  The therapist will explain the positives and negatives of treatment techniques so you are fully informed when making decisions.

Methods we are using:

We make use of a modern form of hypnotherapy, compared to traditional hypnotherapy, which has a significantly higher success rate. Our techniques are influenced by the late Dr. Milton Erickson, a well known and successful Psychiatrist in America who used a variety of techniques to successfully treat patients. This form is found to have a much greater result in therapeutic behavioural change.

NLP was created by Richard Bandler and John Grinder. It involves the connection between your neurological processes (how we perceive the world), language (how we communicate) and programming (habitual patterns which determines how we operate in the world). NLP as a therapeutic tool is used to change these patterns and processes in order to achieve a particular goal. NLP is known as a successful treatment of depression, phobias, and anxiety, as well as a development tool in corporate businesses for leadership training.

Hypnosis by itself is merely a relaxed state of focused attention, a natural, healthy state of mind. We use hypnosis as the vehicle to provide therapy to get an outcome for our client. There is a world of a difference between what we do and what stage hypnotists do, which has no therapeutic outcome or any healing effect whatsoever.

That moment in the morning when you wake up and can hear the sounds around you but you are not fully aware yet, or when you drive back home and when you get there you realise you cannot remember half the road because you were in deep thought, that is examples of natural occurring hypnosis states. Daydreaming is another form of self hypnosis. If you have experienced anything like this you can be hypnotised.

Strategic Psychotherapy used with hypnosis as the vehicle to deliver the therapy is a highly affective method with a faster outcome rate than without. Psychotherapy is a talk therapy combining a variety of techniques like Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP). It is used as a psychological treatment for a variety of mental health challenges. Strategic psychotherapy asks “how do you do that” and not “why do you do that” in order to change behaviour to give you a different outcome than before.
